 About the Owner
My name is Karen Burton; I am a junior at MTSU with a Major in Graphic Arts and Multimedia Design and a Minor in Small Business Management. I have been working in the printing industry as a designer/typesetter/office manager for over twelve years.
I am a very diverse person and have many hobbies which include; swimming, singing, hunting, fishing, crabing, & camping. I have even tried out for Nashville star several times. I love the outdoors. I love photography and taking pictures of my family and especially the outdoors, my backyard alone gives me a great sunset almost daily and the beach at Daytona is amazing to get pictures of the surf. I have a very playful, upbeat personality and get along great with all personality types.
My family is very important to me and we enjoy spending time together. I am engaged to a wonderful man who has a nine-year old son, Robert, and I have a 16 year-old son named Matthew. My sister and her husband live two doors over and accross the street! I love being able to sit on my front porch and wave to them. It's great they are so close. We also have two cats and one dog (soon to be two dogs), Though we just recently lost one of our beloved dogs to bone cancer, we are dealing well with the loss and are hopeful that we will add another to our gang in the future.
The lovely economy has recently left me on layoff so right now I use my time to keep up with my studies and work on my web-design knowlege. I love to learn and I have completed many seminars and online traning tutorials to keep up with my chosen industry.
I tend to look at everything in life as a learning experience, and my general thought is that if something doesn't kill you, it makes you stronger. These are words I live by, I have been through so much in my short 32 years on this planet and I am looking forward to the next 32.
There are quite a few people who have influenced and inspired me over the years, the first of which is my great grandmother, she is 97 years young, and she gets younger by the day. She is an amazing women who has been through so much and even though she has done her share of suffering, you wouldn't know it. My grandmother and my mother are also a great inspiration to me, I am surrounded by strong beautiful women. My sister, what can I say, she is and always will be my best friend. Now it wasn't always this way, but Mom was right, we have gotten so close since we grew up and now I can't imagine my life without her. My old boss took me under his wing and taught me so much about the type of business person I want to be, my favorite quote came directly from him, "the answer is always no, unless you ask." I also have a few friends who will drop what their doing to come to the rescue, and have. I am so blessed to be surrounded by so many wonderful friends and my family.
Who is Poodle's Doodles
Poodle's Doodles was started in 2006 by Karen Burton; a twelve-year veteran in the printing industry with over 5 years of education and training to coincide. Started because the company I was working for was closing, and many of their clients didn't want to look for another designer, so I agreed to continue working with them as a freelance artist. I was still going to find another job, however, I knew I was moving 700 miles away in about year and I didn't feel it was fair to accept a position when I knew I would be leaving.
The decision to branch out on my own has been a difficult journey and I will admit I have almost given up at times, there are alot of people out there that want you to fail. My motto is to Advise my clients in marketing and promotion, Enhance their visual appearances and Empower their businesses to grow.
Originally, I only took clients for print projects, but with the ever changing technology I started to realize that web-presence and design was just as important if not more. I believe in creating clean designs that promote a positive image for both my professional and individual clients.
